Nigeria's home based Eagles today qualified for the finals of the CHAN Nations Cup holding in Morroco.
Nigeria beat Sudan 1-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday to get to the finals.
Congratulations to Nigeria!

Atiku pays tribute to Ekwueme

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has eulogized the Late Alex Ekwueme who passed on last year and who would be buried on Friday at Oko.

The former VP said Ekwume would be greatly missed. He tweeted today through his verified twitter hadle:

"It was a memorable experience hearing people reflect on the life of late Dr. Alex Ekwueme today in Enugu. He was a great man, great thinker, great achiever and one of our most committed democrats. His vision, guidance, and fortitude for a better Nigeria will be greatly missed."

Fayose moves to establish Ekiti Financial Crimes Commission independent of EFCC

The Government of Ekiti State has forwarded a bill to its House of Assembly "for the establishment of Ekiti Economic Crimes Commission (EECC)" and the bill has already scaled through second reading. The Governor of the state, Ayo Fayose stated this this evening on his verified twitter handle.
He said the bill have been refereed to the House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti Corruption for further legislative input.

His words:
"A bill for the establishment of Ekiti Economic Crimes Commission (EECC) sent that I sent to the House of Assembly was today,  sent to the House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti Corruption for further legislative action. It has passed second reading."
Recall that the state government recently dragged former Governor Kayode Fayemi to court over allegations of mismanaging N4.9b when he was governor.

Some Nigerians however see Fayose's move to establish a state-run financial crimes commission as nothing but a waste of time. For instance, a twitter user who replied to Fayose's tweet described the move as an act of desperation.
@Femiwole replied:

"Desperation.
This is a waste of precious time and resources. In the present constitution, what powers will the commission wield in investigating and prosecuting suspects without usurping Police and EFCC powers? You seem to want to be your own Police and Judge. Bound to fail."

"God will judge those who brought this Calamity called Buhari on Nigeria and its people"

Lere Olayinka, media aide to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has lamented the rise of the pump price of petrol from N87 three years ago to N190 today.

Recall that there was acute scarcity of petrol across the country during the Christmas and New Year festivities during which the product sold as high as N250 in most parts of the country. There was an astronomic rise in transport fare and those who traveled for the festivities paid through their noses. The product has continued to be scarce in some parts of the country.

Lamenting the situation today, Olayinka said through his verified twitter handle:

"Just like that, Nigerians have accepted N190 as the pump price of petrol. Three years ago, we were buying petrol at N87, it is now officially N190 under Saint Buhari. God will judge those who brought this Calamity called Buhari on Nigeria and its people."

Adebayo "Shittu may end up as the fly that follows the corpse into the grave!"

Former aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has said Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu "may end up as the fly that follows the corpse into the grave!"
This is coming after the Minister attacked former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his letter crictising President Buhari.

The Minister was reported to have said:

“Obasanjo as a Nigerian has the right to hold an opinion. If Obasanjo holds an opinion that Mr. President has performed less than it should be, those of us who are in the position to know better have a right to also state the other side which perhaps Obasanjo is ignorant of,”

“You see, there are some people who enjoy engaging in sensationalism. With due respect to General Obasanjo, if you take his history over the last 30 years, there is hardly any regime other than his own that he did not criticise, except Sani Abacha, who didn’t wait for Obasanjo to criticise him before he was sent to the gulag.

“So many Nigerians know that Obasanjo enjoys this type of sensationalisation. In any case, no matter what impression you have of me, do you have a right to tell me not to contest an election? I mean we should talk like people who are educated, who know our left from the right,”

However, Reno Omokri has the Minister is unpopular and "is not politically savvy" and that insulting Obasanjo won't make him Governor in 2019.

"No matter how many insults Communications minister, Adebayo Shittu, heaps on Obasanjo, it won’t make him governor of Oyo in 2019. Shittu is not politically savvy. Obasanjo is far more popular in Oyo than Buhari. Shittu may end up as the fly that follows the corpse into the grave!"

There is a new church in Kenya where you can go and have sex every Sunday

A new church that permits sex and alcohol right inside the church has opened in Kenya and it is growing very fast. The church which name is not immediately know is said to have grown up to three hundred members within a short time. It is gathered that every member of the church can have sexual romp with any other member next to whom he or she is seated.
Alcoholism is also permitted within the precincts of the church.
According to Venesa News:

"The church started in 2017 with three members and has since grown to become one of the most popular churches in Nairobi. The most unique thing is that the pastor has made sure that there are breaks between sessions where members are allowed to have sex with whoever is sitting next. While in church, the pastor clearly states that everything we own belong to God, so there is no need of being selfish to our bodies. He says by drinking alcohol, the members become liberated, they actually gain courage to speak about their evils. He clarifies that sex takes people closer to God as it the only way your neighbor can feel appreciated."

"If Dr Alex Ekwueme's DEAD BODY has cost FG N1bn, how much was Ekwueme when he was alive?"

Media Aide to the Governor of Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka has reacted to the recent declaration by Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Nigige that the Federal Government has spent N1b on the burial of former Vice President, Alex Ekwume.

Ngige had reportedly said:

“You know that I belong to the Ekwueme family; I’m part of that family.
“I’m in various committees and subcommittees for the burial of this great statesman. I can tell you authoritatively that Mr President (Buhari) is committed and passionate in ensuring a befitting burial for Ekwueme.
“If he doesn’t come for the burial himself, I’m sure the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will be here for the burial as a matter of right.
“So, I’m here to inspect the facilities in preparation for his burial; and I can tell you that I’m satisfied with the progress of work.
“The Federal Government is doing rehabilitation works on Amawbia/Ekwulobia road, up to Uga and Akokwa in Imo State.
“We’re also doing road rehabilitation on Oko/Umunze road up to Ibinta in Abia State.
“I know the cost of all this, not less than N480m.
“The Federal Government is building the mausoleum, which will contain a modern library and other facilities and I also know the cost of that too.
“And remember that the Federal Government took up all the medical bills of flying him abroad and bringing him back to Nigeria from London upon his death.
“The cost of hiring an air ambulance is not a joke. So, Buhari has honoured this Igbo son in all ramifications.
“He has committed not less than a billion naira in this project because he is passionate about it”.

But Lere Olayinke querried Nigige's submission saying:
"If Dr Alex Ekwueme's DEAD BODY has cost FG N1bn, how much was Ekwueme when he was alive?"

BREAKING NEWS: Ekiti Slams Corruption Charges Against Fayemi

News just coming in indicates that the Ekiti State Government has slam a 19-count charge of corruption and stealing against the Minister Mines and Steel Development, Mr Kayode Fayemi.

This information is contained in a Facebook post made this evening by Lere Olayinka, media aide to Governor Ayo Fayose.

It could be recalled that the Ekiti State Government had instituted Judicial Commission of Inquiry to look into the Finances of Ekiti State during the administration Fayemi.

Fayemi is a former Governor of Ekiti State and a chieftain of APC.
The probe pannel headed by Justice Silas Oyewole indicted Fayemi and his finance commissioner Mr Dapo Kolawole. They due were accused  of "misappropriating the sum of N4.9 billion being the proceeds of Ekiti State Bond for the sum of N20 billion earmarked in the Bond Prospectus for various projects in the State that were either not done or partly done."

A white paper indicted the embatled Fayemi was recently released. Fayemi had described the indictment as a joke taken too far.
However it seems the government is not done yet as it has dragged the Minister to court, accusing him and his Finance Commissioner of "slams 19-count charge of stealing N4.9bn"

Here is the information as released by Lere Olayinka:

Probe panel indictment: Ekiti Govt slams 19-count charge of stealing N4.9bn, others on Fayemi, ex-finance commissioner
Less than two weeks after releasing a white paper on the report of the Justice Silas Oyewole Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Finances of Ekiti State during the administration of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi as governor of Ekiti State, the State government has filed criminal charges of corruption against Fayemi and his Finance Commissioner, Mr Dapo Kolawole.

The 19-count charge HAD/05c/2018, in which Fayemi and Kolawole were accused of stealing, abuse of office, criminal contempt, among others was filed before the State High Court, Ado Ekiti on Friday, January 26, 2018.

Fayemi and his Finance Commissioner were accused of misappropriating the sum of N4.9 billion being the proceeds of Ekiti State Bond for the sum of N20 billion earmarked in the Bond Prospectus for various projects in the State that were either not done or partly done.

While releasing the white paper on January 15, 2018, the government had directed that the state’s Ministry of Justice should institute appropriate legal action(s) against Fayemi and others adding that Fayemi and his Finance Commissioner should be made to account for the whereabouts of the fund allocated to projects in the N25 billion Bond Prospectus, which were either not executed or partly executed.

Count 12 of the criminal charge, which bordered on conspiracy to steal and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code law, Cap C. 16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2010 reads; “That you Dr John Kayode Fayemi and Mr Vincent Dapo Kolawole, while holding the offices of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State of Nigeria and Commissioner for Finance respectively, sometime between 2011 and 2014, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, conspired to steal the sum of N2,750,000,000.00 (N2.75 billion) being the sum of money earmarked in the Bond Prospectus titled; ‘Ekiti State Government of Nigeria, Offer for Subscription of N20,000,000,000 (N20 billion). 14.5% Fixed rate Bond Due 2018 Under the Ekiti State Government of Nigeria N25,000,000,000.00 Bond Issuance Programme ‘ and released for the construction of Ultra-Modern Market in Ekiti State, which you never built; and thereby committed an offence.”

Also on the N25 billion bond, Fayemi and Kolawole were accused of stealing the sum of N716,688,790.92 out of the N750 million earmarked in the Bond Prospectus and released for the construction of Ekiti State School of Agriculture out of which only N33.311,209.08 was allegedly spent, N198,860,023.00 being outstanding fund from the N500 million earmarked in the Bond Prospectus and released for the construction of Ekiti State Liaison Office in Lagos, out of which only N301,139,977 was expended for the said construction.
Furthermore, out of the N767, 970,167.47 earmarked in the Bond Prospectus and released for the renovation of Governor’s Office, only N87, 622,912.25 was spent, leaving outstanding sum of N681, 347,255.22. For the renovation of Ado Ekiti Water Works, N335.5 million was earmarked and released while only N155, 523,558 was spent, leaving outstanding sum of N197, 979,441.77 and N468.6 million earmarked for construction of Ero Water Works, which was not done.
Fayemi and Kolawole were also charged with criminal contempt for refusing to appear before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, an offence punishable under Section 13 of the Commission of Inquiry Law, Cap C. 10, Laws of Ekiti State, 2010, Section 126(2) of the Criminal Code laws, Cap C. 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2010 and Criminal Contempt punishable under Section 133 of the same criminal code.
It should be recalled that the Ekiti State government banned the duo of Fayemi and Kolawole from holding public office in the State for 10 years, for their refusal to appear before the Commission of Inquiry, even after the determination of the case challenging the inauguration of the commission of inquiry before the Ekiti State High Court.
“Government views accountability and probity as the hallmark of good governance. Therefore, the government decided to set up the Judicial Panel of Inquiry in line with its law enacted in 2012.
“Both Dr Fayemi and Mr Kolawole are recommended as unfit to hold any public office in the state for their refusal to appear before the Commission of Inquiry. Their disrespect to the constituted authority and the undignified roles they played in the whole contracts saga which were obviously against the interest of the state they were supposed to protect. They should be barred from holding public office for a specified period,” the white paper read.
While submitting its report on December 13, 2017, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry had said that the former governor must account for the whereabouts of a sum of N2.75 billion allocated from the N25 billion bond obtained by the government for the execution of contract for the construction of Ultra-Modern market in Ado Ekiti, which was never executed.
The commission of inquiry also said that the contractor in respect of the furnishing of the government house built by the Fayemi’s administration should be made to refund a sum of N324.8 million, noting that the contract should not have been more than N280 million.
The panel said it found out that KITWOOD Nigeria Limited to which the furnishing contract of over N600 million was awarded had no traceable address and that “the address on the Letter of Award is a virgin land at opposite the new Central Bank along new Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti.
On the purchase of vehicles, the panel said “claim by Coscharis Motors that it supplied 235 and/or 250 vehicles was fraudulent and that fraught with so many contradictions.
“That Coscharis Motors supplied some vehicles outside Ekiti State especially, at Ibadan Liaison office when Ekiti State Government does not have a Liaison office in Ibadan. In respect of this, seven vehicles were supplied outside the State and signed for by unknown persons.
“That Coscharis Motors only supplied 219 vehicles to the Ekiti State government and that 17 Joylong Buses were supplied to the Ekiti State Government as gift but later carted away.”
On the controversial N852.9 State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) fund, the commission said it was clear that the Government of Dr Fayemi hoodwinked the federal government into paying its own matching grant by obtaining N852, 936,783.12 loan from Access Bank on November 25, 2013 without perfecting documentation in respect of the loan, thereby flouting the provisions of Section 11(2) of the UBEC Act, 2004.

Anti-Grazing Law: Benue APC asks Minister to resign

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue state chapter has asked the Minister of Defence, Col. Muhammad Mansur Dan Ali (rtd) to immediately tender his resignation letter for displaying "incontestable lack of the required sensibility and capacity to serve as Defence Minister in a country of over 180 million people with over 300 ethnic nationalities”
The call for Dan Ali's job is coming after the Minister attributed the recent crisis in Benue state to the Anti-Grazing Law enacted by the state. Recall that 73 people were massacred in the state between January 1st and 2nd.
The state Chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro tongue-lashed the Minister saying the statement linked to him is "a flatly ridiculous absurdity, and the highest level of public disgrace to democracy and the Nigerian populace”

According to him:
“By this singular utterance, the Minister of Defence, Col. Muhammad Mansur Dan Ali (rtd) has inarguably displayed incontestable lack of the required sensibility and capacity to serve as Defence Minister in a country of over 180 million people with over 300 ethnic nationalities”.
“While we are still bewildered if the said statement truly emanated from the Zamfara born retired Military Colonel serving as our ‘supposed Defence Minister’, we consider this statement as a flatly ridiculous absurdity, and the highest level of public disgrace to democracy and the Nigerian populace”.
“We have therefore been constrained to believe that Mr. Mansur is a component unit of the perceived conspiracy against the good and hospitably peace loving people of Benue State”.
Yaro said the state chapter of the party “demand that Col. Mansur Dan Ali (rtd) resigns his position as Nigeria’s Defence Minister immediately and tender an unreserved apology to the good people of Benue State and the country at large”.
“As a founding member and major stakeholder in our ruling party, the APC, we are forced to question Col. Mansur’s real motive and demand that he publicly explains to the party leadership why we should not consider his reckless utterances as a deliberate ploy to truncate the party’s victory in the 2019 general election. Through his statement, as an insider, Mansur appears to have been contracted by the opposition to work against the APC”.
“In as much as we would not dignify Col. Mansur with obnoxious affronts, we would again want to inform him that he is not just an ingrate, but an unrepentant pathological opportunist who was in his farm working for the PDP when many of us toiled the nooks and crannies of this country to ensure victory for President Muhammadu Buhari in the election that brought him (Buhari) to power through which he (Mansur) is one of the biggest beneficiaries”.
“As someone who read Photography in the polytechnic and later took to animal husbandry with flocks of cows to his credit in his Zamfara country home, we urge our President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, to aid Col. Mansur’s timely resignation and return him to his farm with a Xenon HD Camera to continue taking snapshots of his flock of herds back home”.
“Minister Mansur apparently is one of those who are working against the unity of Nigeria and must be stopped now before he and others with such parochial, hateful, divisive and repulsive tendencies plunge the country into deeper crisis”.

Reno Omokri blasts twitter user who accused him of seeking cheap popularity

Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri  today took to twitter to lambast a follower who accused him of seeking cheap popularity on social media. See the harsh reply below.

"My dear I don’t need ‘chip’ popularity. My book was a Number One bestseller. That is all the popularity I need. And you obviously didn’t take advantage of the 165 almajiri schools built by GEJ else you’d know the difference between cheap and ‘chip’!"

"We do nothing as Nigerians are afraid to farm because of herdsmen"- Ben Bruce laments

Senator Ben Muray Bruce has lamented that Nigeria will soon overtake India "as the country with the most people living in extreme poverty" while nothing is been done about herdsmen that scare people away from farms. He tweeted:

"Next week, according to the World Poverty Clock, Nigeria will overtake India as the country with the most people living in extreme poverty. The chief reason for extreme poverty is hunger. Yet we do nothing as Nigerians are afraid to farm because of herdsmen. So poverty increases!"

Gov. Sani Bello of Niger State stops convoy to save students attacked by hoodlums

The convoy of Gov. Sani Bello of Niger state yesterday made a stop-over in Minna the state capital to save the lives of secondary school students who were said to have been attacked by unknown hoodlums.

The Gov. was on his way to to Paikoro Local Government Area of the state on official assignment.

The students who were on their way back from school, were said to be those of Army Day Secondary School, Minna.

See the story as released on his twitter handle below.

"The timely intervention of @GovNiger saved the lives of two students of Army Day Sec. School Minna who were attacked by some hoodlums while returning home from school; from bleeding to death on Friday. The attack occurred in front of the Niger State College of Education, Minna.

The Governor who was on official assignment to Tungan Mallam in Paikoro Local Government area, ordered his convoy to stop at the sight of some students who were soaked in blood from injuries sustained from the attack by some hoodlums.

He then directed his personal physician, Dr Ahmad Shehu to stabilise the victims before the ambulance on his convoy rushed the injured students to IBB Specialist Hospital Minna for further treatment.

No sooner had the hoodlums, who were alleged to have come from the neighbouring Sango area of the state capital, seen the convoy, that they took to their heels to avoid being arrested by the security operatives in the governor's convoy.

Governor Sani-Bello then urged the state Commissioner of Police Mr Paul Yakadi to effect the arrest of the hoodlums and ensure their prosecution.

This is unacceptable. We will not tolerate this impunity. How can some hoodlums attack students on their way home after school? I have directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that all those responsible for the attacks on these students are arrested and prosecuted.

We will continue to ensure that our people continue to enjoy relative peace and arresting the hoodlums will serve as a deterrent to others with same intentions.

Parents and guardian should rise up to their responsibility. We have to keep watch on our children, ensure effective monitoring of our wards, the kind of company and peer group they associate themselves with."

"We will not repeat the mistakes of the past"-Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration will not repeat the mistakes of the past "when as a country, we failed to fully utilise rising oil prices to develop our infrastructure"

He made this statement on his twitter handle hours ago. He President was obviously reacting to the rising oil prices at the international market. Oil has rising to $70 per barrel in recent days.

The President said money "from the rising price of crude oil, will be deployed to infrastructure projects: roads, rail, and power, for the benefit of all our people"
See the complete tweets below.

"I want to assure Nigerians that every additional income that comes to the Federal Government in 2018, from the rising price of crude oil, will be deployed to infrastructure projects: roads, rail, and power, for the benefit of all our people. #TheYearOfInfrastructure

"We will not repeat the mistakes of the past, when as a country we failed to fully utilize rising oil prices to develop our infrastructure. Our administration's pledge to you is that we will make every Naira count, for the development of Nigeria."

Reno Omokri: Of Obasanjo’s Red Card to Buhari and Its Effects Beyond Buhari

By Reno Omokri

There has been a lot of analysis of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Buhari asking him to forego his obvioussecond term bid and strongly rebuking him for his ineptitude and corruption.

I am not going to go in-depth into the contents of the letter because President Obasanjo was only stating the obvious and besides, in the space of only a few days, the letter had become one of the most widely read documents in Nigeria to the point of being sold as literature in traffic by vendors.

I mean when it is so bad that you have the President’s wife and daughter attacking him on social media even a blind man knows that the end of the road is near. That is why I find it certainly disingenuous for the Buhari government, in its seven-page response to Obasanjo’s letter, to accuse the former President of being blind to the facts, saying “his criticism on the economy indicated that his busy schedule denied him appreciation of government’s efforts and resounding successes recorded in the economic sphere.”
“Resounding success recorded in the economic sphere.” What was Lai Mohammed thinking? Let me rephrase – what had Lai Mohammed been smoking? Is the government aware that only two days before it released its pathetic response to President Obasanjo, the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics announced that 16 million Nigerians became unemployed in 2017? And it is an insult to our intelligence for the government’s response to say “permit me to say, however, that Nigeria would not have exited recession through a mere order or if the Administration had not made use of ‘’good Nigerians’’ who could help.”
Who put us in the recession in the first place?
How won’t Nigeria have entered recession under the Buhari administration when the President surrounds himself with spent forces and expired products like Professors Itse Sagay and Tam David West? Look at his cabinet? A complete disgrace, filled with square pegs in round holes. A French degree holder as agriculture minister! Why would we not have recession when we have a polytechnic product in a sensitive ministry like finance.

And the fact that Lai Mohammed reeled out the discredited tale that the Buhari administration had ramped up Nigeria’s electricity generation to 7,000 MWs just goes to show you how desperate they are to come up with ‘achievements’ from thin air!
According to the government-owned and Nigerian Electricity System Operator, the amount of power generated in Nigeria is 4,108MW. This was corroborated by the Spectator Index (the world’s top public utilities rating agency) which revealed last week that Nigeria generates just under 4,000 MWs of electricity.

I deal in facts and I have an unimpeachable reputation for the facts. If any member of the Buhari administration can contradict the data from their own government agency, Nigerian Electricity System Operator, I make a public vow to apologize to President Buhari in a full-page advertisement in a nationally read newspaper.
The fact is that both President Muhammadu Buhari and Lai Mohammed lied! No big surprise there really.
I have heard of ‘born to rule’, but Buhari appears born to fail and fail woefully. Look at how much damage he has done to the nation’s economy that was projected by CNNMoney to be the third-fastest-growing economy in the world in 2015. Look at the deterioration of our internal security.

Go to farm and Fulani herdsmen may kill you. Go to market and inflation may kill you. Go to fuel station and fuel scarcity may kill you. Go to hospital and doctors’ strike may kill you. Go to police and SARS may kill you. Go to work and non-payment of salary by government may kill you. I have never seen a CHANGE that brings death like Buhari/APC!
In fact, someone bought petrol at N320per litre today and complained to me. What does he want from me? Am I Tam David West who promised Buhari will make petrol N40 per litre or Buhari that promised to make N1 equal to $1? Please enjoy the change and invite Fulani herdsmen to the party. But beyond the mediocre response to President Obasanjo read out by Lai Mohammed after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting, I want to remind the President of a statement he made in 2015. The below is from a statement released by President Buhari on March 4, 2015.

“Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a courageous patriot and statesman who tells the truth to power when he is convinced leaders are going wrong, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate retired General Muhammadu Buhari has said.”
My question to President Buhari is this: Does he still stand by this statement in the light of recent events?
Even going backward to when former President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote his letter to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerians can very vividly remember how both the All Progressives Congress and its principal members poured encomiums on President Obasanjo.

It is rather surprising that both President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress are unable to respond to President Obasanjo’s letter today with those same encomiums. In response to Obasanjo’s letter to President Buhari, the APC speaking through its fallacious National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said, “The APC has asked to be given the opportunity to study the statement. We shall respond appropriately afterwards.” After studying the letter, the APC gave a non-response response on Thursday the 25th of January, 2018 saying inter alia:
“We disagree with the former president in what appears like a wholesale dismissal of the entire political system in the country.”

This is at variance with their response to Obasanjo’s letter to Jonathan when the APC said through its then National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, as follows: “President Jonathan should address the allegations that he has put 1,000 Nigerians on a ‘political watch-list’, in addition to training snipers at the same facility where Abacha’s killer squad was trained.”
The APC’s response to President Obasanjo did not address any of the allegations raised by the former President. Former President Obasanjo obviously loves Nigeria and he is a major stakeholder and his letter raised very salient points that should not and cannot be swept under the carpet. I see, however, that the APC’s in-house evil genius, Nasir El-Rufai, has been using his son to say the things he would like to say but can’t say about President Obasanjo, who brought him to political limelight. The younger El-Rufai accused former President Obasanjo of having a Messiah Complex. In fact, his exact words were:

“Once again, Obasanjo’s Messiah Complex manifests itself. The only Saint in Nigeria.” The thing is that El-Rufus’s son exposes the hypocrisy of his own father. How? Well the previous day, the senior El-Rufai had posted the following on facebook:
“Young people think insulting leaders on social media will change the way things are in Nigeria. No one would hand over the mantle of leadership to you simply because you’re young. If you want to chase “old people” from positions of power, you must join a party and participate in the process no matter how bad, dirty and dangerous you think it is.” In any event, I tried to defend Obasanjo and in doing so I got the wrong end of the stick from the younger El-Rufai.
Obviously, that Obasanjo letter really affected the Nasir El-Rufai family. His son even went further to unleash more insults on both Obasanjo and me.

In response to that, I must say that I never knew El-Rufai’s son’s temper is as short as his father’s height. But come to think of it, what did Obasanjo say about Buhari that the serial betrayer and Buhari’s house boy, El-Rufai, has not said before?
On October 4, 2010 El-Rufai said, “Mallam El-Rufai wishes to remind General Buhari that he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His INSENSITIVITY TO NIGERIA’S DIVERSITY AND HIS PAROCHIAL FOCUS are already well known”.

El-Rufai’s son should not think that I am in the same class as his dad. I am loyal. I am not a political prostitute like his father. I fear God. I have never been accused of consulting all manner of marabouts to further my political future! But back to President Obasanjo. Given its antecedents, let me just kindly nudge the Buhari administration to note that Nigerians don’t want to hear that killer Fulani herdsmen attacked President Obasanjo’s house or that the EFCC arrested one of his children. The dynamically disappointing duo of President Buhari and El-Rufai celebrated Obasanjo when he wrote against Jonathan. What is sauce for the goose, should also be sauce for the gander.
But if their antecedents are anything to go by, they will attempt to distract the public from Obasanjo’s missive. So let me beat them to it by asking my readers what they think the Buhari government will do to distract Nigerians’ attention from former President Obasanjo’s letter?
A. Release new Chibok Girls
B. ‘Find’ billions in Jonathan’s house
C. Ask EFCC to probe Third Term
D. Increase the price of fuel
E. Make NTA show #BBNaija, or
F. Release/Resurrect Nnamdi Kanu

In fact, so accurate was I in predicting the behaviour of the Buhari administration that just as I finished writing the above paragraph, I got news of two events that had happened SUDDENLY.
In the first sudden incidence meant to change the narrative, the EFCC detained Babachir Lawal, Buhari’s immediate-past Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
In the second event, the Buhari government suddenly announced that APC’s El-Rufai-led committee on Restructuring would now submit its report two days after the Obasanjo letter. No previous warning. It was not scheduled. It just came out of the blue. So predictable.

So why now?
They are desperately trying to deliver a flurry of activity to distract Nigerians from the truths contained in Obasanjo’s #RedCard to President Buhari
This is so knee-jerk predictable! I predicted on the day of the Obasanjo letter that going by their antecedents, the Buhari administration will take a dramatic decision to try to distract the public from the troubling epistle. Babachir’s detention is just a show that, like other arrests before it, will not lead to anything. They just think that Nigerians are so shallow that this will make you forget Obasanjo’s #RedCard to President Buhari.

All of a sudden, the same President Buhari, who said he was not in a hurry to take decisions last week, is the same President Buhari who has started hurriedly making decisions this week. Suddenly he is going to receive the report on restructuring tomorrow. Suddenly Babachir Lawal has been arrested. Suddenly. Suddenly. Why has a slow coach suddenly revved it’s engine to be the fastest train? Why suddenly? Obasanjo’s #RedCard, that is why!
Let me conclude by saying that I am so glad that President Obasanjo’s intervention came just as it seemed that the Buhari administration was going to get away with its evil policy of establishing cattle colonies. I am reasonably certain that after Obasanjo’s missive, that Policy will die a natural and well-deserved death.

In May 2016, President Buhari told us killer herdsmen are from Libya. One week later Lai Mohammed told us that killer herdsmen are not Nigerians. On January 24, 2015, the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum said killer herdsmen are foreigners from Senegal and Mali. Only last week, the Presidency said it is the Islamic State that is killing Nigerians in the name of herdsmen. If all these statements are true, why does the Buhari government still want to give herdsmen Nigerian land as cattle colony? There is a strong disconnect between these statements and the quest for cattle colonies. You do not give colonies to invading foreigners. You send the army after them! That is what Ghana is doing and we say we are the Giant of Africa.
Perhaps President Obasanjo, being an Owu Yoruba warrior, intervened because of his deep knowledge of the history of the Yoruba people. Ilorin in Yoruba land once hosted a colony of Fulani warriors and clerics. Today, without mincing words, the Yoruba are second-class citizens in their own land. They bow to a Fulani emir. Their political elite are Fulani. The wealth of Ilorin is firmly and securely in the hands of the Fulani. During Muslim holidays the Yoruba original owners of the land line up in front of the house of a Fulani man to collect crumbs and in the process kill themselves via a stampede.
History does not repeat itself. Men repeat history. MARK MY WORDS, what happened in Ilorin will happen to any state, or community that allows itself to be used to host a cattle colony!

It is not for nothing that the Alake of Egba conferred the title of Jagunmolu of Egbaland on Olusegun Obasanjo after he collected the articles of surrender from the forces of the defunct Republic of Biafra. Jagunmolu means invincible warrior.
In 1824, it was a Yoruba general named Afonja (who was aare ona kakanfo of Oyo empire) that was foolish enough to invite Fulani colonialists led by Shehu Alimi (AKA Salih Janta) to Ilorin. In 2018 it is another Yoruba General named Obasanjo who was wise enough to blow the whistle on the immediate-past Grand Patron of Fulani herdsmen (Buhari was a Grand Patron of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria) who wants his kinsmen to not just colonize one town, but to colonize the whole of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I am convinced that President Obasanjo saw through the ruse and figured out that the so-called cattle colony policy is just a subterfuge for the stealth implementation of a long-term dream of Fulani irredentists for Nigeria. The dream of conquering up to the Atlantic Ocean.
God forbid. God forbid. GOD FORBID!
By the way, my condolences to Afenifere leader, Chief Olu Falae, over today’s destruction of his farm by Fulani herdsmen. If a Yoruba leader, a former Minister for Finance, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and a former Presidential candidate is not safe from Fulani herdsmen in Buhari’s Nigeria, who is safe? Certainly not you and I. Perhaps, just perhaps Falae’s ordeal reminded Obasanjo of his own ordeal between 1995 and 1998.
