Photo: Former Army Chief, Victor Malu Laid to Rest

Nigeria's former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Victor Malu has been laid to rest in his village, Tse Andoor, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. The former Army Chief died earlier this month in Cairo, Egypt. He was 70.
The late soldier was born in 1947 in Katsina-Ala, Benue state. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as 2nd Lieutenant after graduation from the Nigerian Defense Academy in 1970. He rose through the ranks and became Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff between 1999 and 2001. He is best remembered for his role in Nigeria's peace keeping activities in Liberia. Also, people remember him for the infamous 1999 military invasion of Odi, a community in Bayelsa state where many were killed and maimed.
