“Whoever that says there will be no election does not have the interest of the people at heart" Says Gov Obiano as IPOB intensifies campaign against November polls

Gov Obiano

Governor Willie Obiano has made it known that those campaigning for the boycott of the November guber poll in the state, does not have the interest of Anambrarians at heart. This is coming after IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu's statement that there would be no election in the state and that “God will punish Anambra State if it allows the November poll to take place.”

But Mr Obiano counters such declaration saying “Whoever that says there will be no election does not have the interest of the people at heart. We will not repeat what happened during the census period years back. We are still suffering it effects till today because we were counted less than what we are,”

The Governor said those campaigning for boycott would be dealt with. “We are going to go after them; we will deal with those who said there would be no election in the state decisively. People are free to vote the candidates of their choice, you can see that in Anambra State today, people now sleep with their two eyes closed.”
Nnamdi Kanu and his secessionist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are campaigning for a separate state of Biafra. Kanu insists that his group would not allow any election in Anambra except the Federal Government allows for a referendum for Biafra. It is feared that the people may obey the order given Kanu's cult followership. A similar order was issued on May 30, on the anniversary of the declaration of Biafra, and the South East States were shut down. Though analysts believed many people stayed at home out fear, rather than obedience.
