10 Takeaways from Aisha Buhari and Sen. Shehu Sani’s coded Facebook Message

Sen. Shehu Sani
President Buhari and wife, Aisha
The Facebook post and response

Some days ago, the beautiful wife of the President, Aisha Buhari responded to Senator Sheu Sani’s Facebook post in a language that was as coded as it was poetic. The two posts were poetic and had Shakespearian flavor. The wife of the President is not known for parables; neither is she a poet, at least as far as we know. Sen. Shehu Sani’s equally poetic post can be excused since he is a known literati. The response from Aisha Buhari has thrown many off balance since her response was laden with very deep meanings. What was Shehu Sani saying? What was the First Lady saying with her response? has done a poetic analysis on the post and the response and came out with the following 10 verdicts.
1.     In the first place, “The Lion King” referred to by Senator Shehu Sani is no other than ailing President Muhammadu Buhari who has been away on a medical trip for 66 days.
2.     By the way “The Lion King” is the title of Walt Disney’s 1994 animated movie which tells a story of power play and usurpation of royalty. The reference here indicates that there is an intense power play and possible usurpation of power in Nigeria resulting from the absence of the President.
3.     The “Hyenas” and “Jackals” refer to those politicians who are busy benefiting from the absence of the President. They are the “Cabals” around Aso Rock who are feeding fat from the illness of the President and also wish that he never comes back.
4.     The “Weaker animals” represents ordinary Nigerians who are praying that the President comes back in good health to continue from where he stopped.
5.     Although Shehu Sani mentioned that “Prayer for the absent Lion King has waned”, he is not referring to the prayer offered by the “weaker animals” (ordinary Nigerians). Recall that during Buhari’s first medical trip, prominent Nigerians, including State Governors took turn to orgnise prayers for the president. What Sani is saying therefore is that such prayer meetings are no longer happening. The reference therefore is to “The Hyenas and Jackals” who would “fall over each other to be on the front row of the palace temple” to greet the President when he is back to the country even though they failed to pray in his absence.
6.     When Shehu Sani says that “it is the prayer of the weaker animals that the Lion King comes back to save the kingdom from hyenas, the wolves and the jackals” we understand it to mean that there is a deep problem as a result of usurpation of power by “hyenas, wolves and jackals”. This is why the weaker animals are praying for the Lion King to back and save the ship of state.
7.     From her coded response, Aisha Buhari reveals to us that her husband is recovering. According to her “God has answered the prayers of the weaker animals”. This means the President may have recovered considerably and may soon be back home. His recovery is the prayer of the “weaker animals” referred to by Shehu Sani.
8.     The use of “Soon” by the First Lady indicates that the coming of the President is at hand.
9.     When she poetically said “The Hyenas and the Jackals will soon be sent out of the kingdom” we understand it to mean that those busy benefiting from the absence of the President, will have themselves to blame when he comes back. In other words, heads may roll; people may be shown the exit door.
10.                         The poetic messages however did not show any clear reference to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo. Many interpreters may want to link him to the poem; but clearly it points to those around the ailing President other than the Acting President. It also points to political schemers who may be enjoying the new power equation and wish that the situation continues.
